Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static codes: the address or text is stored inside the code, not on a server. They work as long as the destination does.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit. Everything is made in your browser.

What should I print the code at?

Make it at least about 2 cm (1 inch) square and leave a blank margin around it. Bigger is better if people will scan from a distance.

Why will my code not scan?

The usual causes are low contrast (pale code on a pale background), a light code on a dark background, a code printed too small, or too much data. Shorter content makes a simpler code that scans more easily.

What does error correction do?

It adds redundancy so the code still scans if part of it is dirty or covered. Higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser. Medium is a good default.

Is my data private?

Yes. The code is created on your device and nothing is sent to us.
