What is a meta tag checker?

A meta tag checker reads a page's HTML and reports its title, description, canonical, robots and share tags, then flags what is missing or the wrong size. It shows what search engines and social sites see when they fetch your page.

How it works

  1. 1

Enter the address of the page to check.

  2. 2

Choose whether to check as a phone.

  3. 3

Read the checklist: green is good, amber could improve, red needs fixing.

  4. 4

Use the Meta Tag Generator to rewrite anything that needs work.

Frequently asked questions

What does the checker look at?

The title, meta description, canonical address, robots rules, main heading, mobile viewport, language, HTTPS, share tags, image alt text, compression and response time.

Does it run the page's JavaScript?

No. It reads the HTML the server sends, the way many crawlers do first. Tags added only by JavaScript after the page loads will not appear here.

Why might Google show something different?

Search engines may rewrite titles and descriptions to match a search. The checker tells you what your page offers, not what Google will choose to show.

How reliable is the response time?

It is a single measurement from our server and can vary a lot. Use it as a rough hint, not a speed test.

Do you keep the results?

No. The page is fetched, analysed and shown to you, and nothing is stored.

Can I check any page?

Any public page. Addresses on private networks are refused for safety, and the number of checks per hour is limited.
