Content quality and trust

Helpful, original, trustworthy content that stays clear of spam rules.

The short answer

Search engines reward content that is helpful, original and trustworthy, and they act against pages made mainly to manipulate rankings. Using AI to write is not penalised in itself. Publishing large numbers of thin, repetitive pages is.

Why it matters

Google's spam policies name scaled content abuse: many pages made mainly to rank rather than to help people. Reports on a 2026 spam update describe action against bulk low-value pages, with AI use itself not the target.

E-E-A-T (experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust) is a way Google's quality guidelines describe good content. It is not a single score, but visible authorship, sources and accuracy all help.

For tool and template sites, the risk is publishing many near-identical pages. Each page should add something real.

Frequently asked questions

Does Google penalise AI-written content?

Not for being AI-written. Its policies focus on whether content is made to help people or mainly to manipulate rankings. Low-value mass-produced pages are the problem.

What is E-E-A-T?

Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust: qualities Google's quality raters look for. It is guidance for judging content, not a ranking score.

How many pages are too many?

There is no number. The question is whether each page is useful and different from the others.
